English name:Anthurium Jungle King
Latin name:Anthurium ellipticum 'Jungle King'
About me:I am one of close to 1000 species of Anthurium found in the wild. My large, paddle-shaped leaves are the perfect jungle shape.
Useful to know:
I come from the tropics of South America.
I can grow up to 90cm in height.
I like a part shady spot best. Keep me away from direct sunlight.
I like my soil to be moist, but not soggy so water me a little every few days.
I like it warm so no rooms below 16°C please!
Feed me every 6-8 weeks between March and September.
Dust my large glossy leaves regularly.
If you notice my leaves turning yellow, you're probably overwatering me. If they turn crispy at the edges, increase himudity around me and mist me.
I am toxic so please don't eat me.
The name anthurium is derived from two Greek words, anthos (flower) and oura (tail). So, a literal translation of the name would be “flowering tail”.
