Shark Fin
English name:
Shark FinLatin name:
Sansevieria masoniana 'Victoria'About me:
I am a mono-phyllic species. In the wild I grow in clumps, but as a housplant I will remain a single, frozen, seagreen wave. I have a large surface area with dappled markings and a surrounding band of brown.
Useful to know:
Origin
I am native to Africa, brought to Europe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Height/Growth
I have been known to rach 1 meter high, but it'll take me long time to get that big!
Light
I like bright filtered light, but I'm also quite forgiving and can cope with low light conditions for a while.
Water
Only water me when my soil is completely dried out. In Winter this could be once every 2 months, and in the Summer once every few weeks. Please don't overwater me.
Temperature
I'm not too fussy but I prefer the warm and definitely want to be warmer than 10°C.
Feeding
I won't need much feed, but a little diluted all-purpose fertiliser during the growing season might be nice.
Grooming
No grooming required. Just admire me!
Care
To encourage growth, repot me every year or two into a slightly larger pot.
Toxicity
Keep me away from pets and children.
Fact
I am great for clearing formaldehyde from the air AND I give off oxygen at night, so I am handy to have in the bedroom.
