Philodendron Xanadu

Philodendron bipinnatifidum 'Winterbourn'

Regular price £27.09 £0.00

The Philodendron Xanadu boasts long arrow-shaped leaves with varied articulation. It's a shrubby foliage plant with a growth habit that is both dense and upright.

My lush leaves will add a dash of the tropics to any space. Unlike other Philodendrons, I'm not a climber but will grow as a shrub as wide as I'm tall.

It only gets better with age! The leaf shape will fully develop and give the plant even more character.

In many ways, the Xanadu resembles an Elephant Ear, but two stand out differences are the abundance of stems at the Philodendron’s base and the shape of the leaves.

It’s fairly easy to please, so will thrive in a variety of homes and offices. The only thing to be mindful of is that it needs a good amount of light to grow well.

Choose from 2 sizes:

Large: Growing pot size is 27cm. Overall plant height including growing pot: 60-70cm

Extra Large: Growing pot size is 30cm. Overall plant height including growing pot: 85-95cm

Key Benefits — Dust trapping and Feel good!

Philodendrons are particularly great at isolating dust and keeping them away from your surfaces and most importantly, your lungs!

As you take care of your philodendron Xanadu, it will take care of you helping reduce stress, boosting your mood and relaxing!

Plant Care Tips: The  Philodendron Xanadu

If you provide the Philodendron Xanadu with a loose and well-draining medium, it can grow in any soil mix. Place the plant in a bright area away from direct sunlight.  Once the soil is nearly dry, water it generously.

It’s a Brazilian plant, so it will appreciate warmer temperatures (ideally between 18 and 29ºC). Feed it during the growing season with a well-balanced fertiliser.

The  Philodendron Xanadu Story

Where is it from?

A native of the Brazilian rainforests.

Who is the Philodendron Xanadu?

Also known as cut-leaf philodendron, it has luscious leaves that will add a tropical feel to any space. Unlike other Philodendrons, this one is not a climber but it grows as a shrub.

Good For You!

  • Relax: Plants make us feel in touch with nature helping us relax and alleviate the stresses of everyday life.
  • Purify: Through photosynthesis, all plants are helpful purifiers but Philodendrons are particularly great at removing nastiness from the air you breathe!

Is The Philodendron Xanadu The Right Plant For Me?

The Philodendron Xanadu is one of the most forgiving plants. It can grow healthily and thrive in different rooms of the home, without the need for a lot of attention.

Perfect for new or inexperienced plant parents!

Toxicity: Keep away from nibbly pets and curious children

How tall does it grow?  It can reach more than 1m in both height and width if re-poted regularly.

Useful to know:

Origin

I am a native of Brazil.

Height/Growth

I'm not an uber fast grower but I can reach more than 1m in both height and width if you re-pot me regularly.

Light

I need more light than other philodendrons and grow best in medium indirect light. Too much bright light causes my leaves to become pale and bleached looking and direct sun burns them.

Water

Water me until water runs out of the bottom of the pot, then drain the saucer and never leave me sitting in water. Wait for the top 5cm of soil to dry before watering me again.

Temperature

I like temperatures between 16-26 degrees C.

Feeding

Fertilise me monthly in spring and autumn, more often in summer and not at all in winter.

Grooming

I get yellowing leaves when adjusting to a new home or when I'm due a growth spurt. Just remove these by cutting them at the base of the stem.

Care

I get yellowing leaves when adjusting to a new home or when I'm due a growth spurt. Just remove these by cutting them at the base of the stem. I like to be in a humid environment.

Toxicity

Keep me away from pets and children as I am toxic.

Fact

There are two stories about my origin - it's claimed that I was discovered by chance in a nursery in West Australia but I have since been found to have originated from a seed collected in Brazil.
