The Lucky Bamboo ‘Gold’ is super easy to care for and has been named by NASA as one of the best air-purifying plants out there. With the right care you Dracaena Sandriana 'Gold' will live a long and happy life!

How to care for Lucky Bamboo ‘Gold’

  • Your plant will thrive best with bright, indirect light. Generally, it will cope better in shade than in direct sunlight, as this can scorch its leaves. If you notice your plant stretching towards the light or the colour of its leaves fading, you will need to find a new spot with more light.
  • Dracaenas are sensitive to the chlorine in tap water to make sure you leave your water out for 24 hours so that the chemicals can evaporate before you water your plant. Their soil should be kept moist but not wet, water once the top inches of soil have dried out. Mist your plant roughly twice a week in order to create a humid environment that it can thrive in.
  • They prefer temperatures between 18-35ºC. During the winter, be careful with cold draughts.

The Lucky Bamboo ‘Gold’ Story

As the common name suggests, this plant resembles the stalks of a bamboo plant but it's actually not part of the bamboo family at all! In fact, it's actually more closely related to a succulent.

Lucky Bamboo plants are said to bring good fortune to the owner! Apparently the more stalks your plant has, the more wealth and prosperity you will receive.

Where is it from?

Native to Central Africa.

Symbolism and Feng Shui

Lucky Bamboos are thought to increase Feng Shui. They grow and recover quickly representing upright growth, nobility and flexibility. Its hollow stem represents an open, humble heart.

According to the Chinese practice, the Lucky bamboo is related to the five elements; earth (the pebbles in the container), wood (the plant), water, fire (a red ribbon often tied to the plant) and metal (a metal coin attached to the ribbon).

The hollow bamboo is believed to conduct ‘Chi’ energy, letting wisdom and prosperity flow through.

Is The Lucky Bamboo Gold The Right Plant For Me?

Dracaenas are easy to care for and perfect for beginners! Great if you are thinking about starting a plant collection.

They are, however, toxic to pets so, keep them away from your furry babies!
