Outdoor Plants FAQ's

What are the benefits of outdoor plants?

There are so many! In fact, probably endless. It completely depends on what your plant actually is. There are a few blanket benefits that cover all, however. Plants are an essential makeup of our ecosystem. Certain plants will attract certain insects that can help to improve other plants, etc. By buying outdoor plants you are contributing to the ecosystem within your home and, inadvertently, the world.

These are some immeasurable benefits, though there are others. There is the aesthetic factor - getting plants that you like the look of can be hugely beneficial for your mood and your ability to traverse the seasons watching your plant (potentially) change. You can also choose to get an outdoor plant that you can eat which is a whole other benefit!

What plants are best for the outdoors?

This will be a long list! Depending on where you are, you might have a climate that tends to work better for certain plants. However, there are some pretty hardy outdoor plants in our collection that can withstand most conditions.

Palms are a surprising favorite for outdoors. We probably associate palm trees with tropical climates, white sandy beaches, and crystal-clear blue waters. You can grow a lot of palm trees in Europe, bringing these relaxed vibes to your home no matter the weather. Fig trees and fig tree variations are another favorite for such conditions. These plants will also bear fruit!

What plants are best for patios?

This is a question of aesthetics and we are here to deliver our recommendations! Most patios will be brown in some variety so we recommend adding something with a bit of contrasting color to add some vibrancy. The Red Cabbage Palm is a great way to add this burst of beauty to your patio. These plants can be kept in pots year-round and can be moved around easily to get the best spot in the sun.

Pineapple Palm trees are a great addition to gardens as well as they can add some textural moments to any garden. They do not produce pineapple, unfortunately, though they do look like one on the trunk

What plants are good for pots all year round?

There are a variety of plants that work really nicely in pots year-round. This will, of course, depend on the weather. This is something that is unavoidable to consider but most of our plants on this page can deal with all climates.

The Mediterranean Cypress tree works really nicely in a pot and can be moved around with ease. These slender evergreens work great in pairs or threes and can add some beauty to your garden at all times!

What outdoor plants are the most low- maintenance?

All of these plants in our collection are pretty low maintenance! You might need to slightly increase watering during the summer months for some, and some of them will require fertilization during the growing season as well.

The absolute winner of the low maintenance award goes to Rosemary. The rosemary plant is the most delicious and easy-to-grow herb in the world. Simply grow it in the pot and follow our guidance on care. Once you bury it in the ground it will stay fabulous year-round, no matter the amount of neglect!
