Extra Large Fishtail Palm
Caryota mitis
The Caryota mitis is also known as the 'Clustering Fishtail Palm', or simply 'Fishtail Palm' thanks to its ridged, fin-like leaves.
The Caryotia species originates in tropical regions of South and East Asia: from India to Java to southern China. Though it has subsequently been naturalized in southern Florida and parts of Africa and Latin America, where it can comfortably grow outside.
A tropical sun-lover, the Fish Palm can take a good amount of light, so if you're looking for a plant for a conservatory or super bright living room, this one's a good choice. Of course, if you ever notice scorch marks, move your plant into a shadier spot. Plant care advice should always be taken as a guide and not an absolute rule. With careful monitoring, you will become the expert on your own plants!
