Silver Sword Philodendron
Philodendron hastatum
The Silver Sword Philodendron is coloured a chalky green that becomes almost metallic in the light. It boasts strong vines and long leaves, that widen slightly at the base as the plant matures and become more arrow-like.
In the wild, the Sword is a climber, so it will greatly benefit from one of our plant supports. If you wanted to try and create a living wall, it would also be a good one to experiment with!
These plants are fairly easy to keep as houseplants, and are fairly vigorous growers. If you keep it going successfully you'll have a bountiful, lush and positive feature in your home.
Get your Silver Sword Philodendron to thrive by watering it moderately in Spring/Summer, and letting the top 2 inches of soil dry out in Autumn/Winter. This one likes a bit of humidity so give it a sprits once a week-2 weeks, depending on how warm and sunny its environment is.
Try and keep it as warm as possible, but out of direct sunlight, or you may get darker spots.
Re-pot every Spring, or every other Spring.
Growing pot dimensions: 17cm diameter, 15cm depth.
