The entire bloom is an ombre of delicate pinks with a sunny bright yellow center. It is easy to see why the Dendrobium orchid has been nicknamed the bamboo orchid! Each flower emits a sweet scent that is both pleasant and delicate. These petite blooms will last for several months before returning to a vegetative state.

Dendrobium 'Kumiko' Care Guide

Light

Place your Bamboo orchid in a shaded spot where it will receive plenty of bright indirect light or filtered light; 50 % of the day is ideal

Water

Water sparingly in the winter. Your plant is dormant and will not be actively growing. The soil should be damp to the touch, not sopping and should never dry out. In the spring and summer or once blooms have appeared, increase the watering. Check every 5 days to make sure the soil is consistently damp

Temperature

Provide cool temperature in the Autumn and Winter season, 10 °C to 15 °C; and during the day in spring and summer keep the temperature warm from 21 °C to 24 °C

Feeding

We highly recommend using a balanced fertilizer formulated for orchids. 0.02-0.02-0.02. Fertilize with every other watering once buds appear into the summer; Cease feeding your orchid after the blooms have fallen off

Grooming

Soil: We recommend using a mix of coco coir, sphagnum moss and orchid bark mix. You want to achieve a soil that is well-draining and allows airflow at the root zone. The Cococoir will help to retain water and nutrients.

Propagation: This is difficult and usually consists of separating plantlets from the mother plant.

Repotting: Hydrate the root zone and media for easy removal. And plant into fresh damp soil. This can be done every 12-24 months after the plant has lost its blooms.

Care

Check the axis of the leaves and stem for any mealy bugs. Wipe leaves down gently with a microfiber cloth
