The Corokia cotoneaster 'Green Leaf' looks delicate yet is a robust plant. The plant's fresh green coloured foliage on soft grey branches is reminiscent of wintery scenes. If well cared for, you will be rewarded with small, star-shaped yellow flowers.

Native to the southern hemisphere namely New Zealand, Australia and Rapa Iti; Corokia cotoneasters are commonly known as 'wire-netting bush' for the zig-zag patterns in which the branches grow.

  • Corokias grown indoors prefer areas with bright indirect light. Partial shade is also OK. Avoid dry cold draughts. Corokias can tolerate cooler temperatures but not for too long. 
  • Let most of the soil dry out before watering the plant. Be careful not to completely dry out or overwater it. 
  • Feeding is only needed after a year of growth. Use a standard houseplant fertiliser every 2 to 3 months. 
  • Pruning is also not needed with frequency. Cut back unwanted shoots and remove any dry or dying leaves and flowers to encourage healthier growth. 
  • Reporting in recommended once a year, once the plant has reached maturity, once every 2 or 3 years is enough.
  • They are best propagated through wood cuttings and planted in a mixture of sand and peat to boost proper growth.
