English name:Kangaroo Paw Fern
Latin name:Microsorum Diversifolium
About me:I have long delicate leaves, coloured deep green. My ferns are glossy and crinkle cut. Don't mistake me for my relation, the Blue Star Fern which has a matte texture.
Useful to know:
I am native to the Australias.
I won't grow much more than about a foot tall, but I can spread far and wide, so you might end up with a real bush.
I like medium to bright, indirect light.
Water me when about half of my soil is dry. Take me out of my ceramic pot and stop when water comes out of my growing pot's drip holes. Please don't let me sit in water.
Keep me warm and away from draughts please!
I'd like some weak fertiliser about once a month.
Just give my leaves a wipe if dust builds up, so I can breathe properly, and cut away any dead leaves.
I like a bit of humidity, so pop some damp pebbles between my ceramic and growing pot to create a more humid atmosphere, if needed.
Good news: I am pet-safe!
In my native regions, I might be seen growing in the nooks of trees.
