Anthurium Jungle King

Regular price £24.00 £0.00

The Jungle King is an undeniable 'tough guy' of a plant, with visibly protruding roots, which give it a visceral aliveness. Plants with characteristics like this are said to help us feel equally as vital, as they help us feel grounded, and connected to the wider ecosystem around us.

Members of the Araceae family, Anthuriums come from tropical South America, where they grow in humid rainforest conditions. But they adapt well to indoor environments, and do well in part shade to full sun.

I am one of close to 1000 species of Anthurium found in the wild. My large, paddle-shaped leaves are the perfect jungle shape.

Replicate that rainforest humidity by misting your plant in the mornings.

Growing pot size: 14cm

Overall plant height including growing pot: 25-30cm

Pets: Harmful to pets

Useful to know:

Origin

I come from the tropics of South America.

Height/Growth

I can grow up to 90cm in height.

Light

I like a part shady spot best. Keep me away from direct sunlight.

Water

I like my soil to be moist, but not soggy so water me a little every few days.

Temperature

I like it warm so no rooms below 16°C please!

Feeding

Feed me every 6-8 weeks between March and September.

Grooming

Dust my large glossy leaves regularly.

Care

If you notice my leaves turning yellow, you're probably overwatering me. If they turn crispy at the edges, increase humidity around me and mist me.

Toxicity

I am toxic so please don't eat me.

Fact

The name anthurium is derived from two Greek words, anthos (flower) and oura (tail). So, a literal translation of the name would be “flowering tail”.

Decorative pot sold separately.
