The Laurus nobilis plant (Bay Tree) is one of the oldest shrubs in cultivation, having been discovered as early as 1650 in the Mediterranean.
As well as being used in cooking, the dark-green foliage of the Laurel Tree has made it a popular plant for decoration, and it can be cut into gorgeous formal shapes. These beauties look great potted, decorating an entranceway or patio. Alternatively you can plant them straight in the ground to create a large bushy shrub or topiary.
Laurel Bay Trees are hardy plants that can thrive in most conditions. If you protect them against frost and never over water them, you shouldn't come into any trouble!
