Elephant Ear 'Spear Queen' (12cm)
Alocasia cucullata 'Spear Queen'
A beautiful species of Elephant Ear that will reward good care with speedy growth. It has wonderful upright stems with loosely-crinkled heart-shaped leaves and prominent veins and should reach approximately 1.2 metres in height.
Common names for the plant include Buddha's Hand and Dwarf's Hood Elephant Ear, owing to the pleasing shape of its leaves.
Alocasia cucullatae come from tropical regions of South East Asia and China, so you won't be surprised to hear they like warmth and humidity. Don't panic if you have a dry home though, you can replicate its original environment by popping it on top of a pebble tray or by giving it a semi-regular misting.
