The Jade plant is a succulent renowned for bringing wealth and good luck to its owners across Asia. Its round leaves are symbolic of growth and resemble coins and it is said to release 'chi', aka positive energy. It is a traditional gift for new businesses and business owners - you'll often find one at the entrance to your local Chinese! Feng shui practices recommend placing it in an east location for family harmony, health and academic success; in southeast locations for wealth and luck; in west locations for creativity; and in northwest locations for bringing luck to people like teachers and mentors, who help others. This tough plant is perfect for a novice - it likes full sun to grow at its best but can deal with shade too. Only water when the top layer of soil is dry.
