Microsorum musifolium ‘Crocodyllus’
The leaf patterns and texture of this amazing fern strongly resemble crocodile skin (so no prizes for guessing where it's common name comes from). An epiphyte, in the wild the Microsorum musifolium grows on trees, but he should stay firmly in his pot in your house!
I have mid green, fresh looking fronds that resemble those of a crocodile’s skin.
Growing pot dimensions: 12cm diameter x 9cm height
Useful to know:
I am originally from New Guinea & Malaysia.
I am a fast grower and can grow up to 2m tall.
Like most ferns, I like low levels of light or indirect sunlight. A northern or Eastern facing windowsill will provide the best exposure.
I like to be kept moist, so water me whenever my soil feels dry to touch, but make sure I have adequate drainage.
Keep me away from draughts and in temperatures of between 18 and 24°C.
Please feed me diluted fertiliser once a month during the growing season.
Take off any unsightly leaves as required and trim off crowded fronds to encourage air flow and reduce the chance of fungal infections.
I like humidity so please occasionally spray me with water.
Good news: I am pet friendly!
I am an epiphyte which means in my natural surroundings I grow directly on the trunks of trees.
Decorative pots excluded.
