One of the most popular plants on the market, Chamaedorea elegans plants have been a favourite since the Victorian times, hence the common name Parlour Palm. The parlour was considered the finest room in the house, reserved only to host the most important guests. Having one of these plants in your parlour was a way of proving your wealth and position in society.
An elegant beauty, these bright green plants have pinnate leaves, meaning they feather out from multiple arching, slim stems.
How to look after your Chamaedorea elegans:
These plants are easy to look after and with their air-purifying qualities, they're an amazing option for both green fingered folk and those just starting out on their plant journeys.
They prefer a semi-shaded location away from windows and only require watering once the top of the soil has dried out. Do not over water as these plants can be sensitive to root rot. Native to Mexico and Guatemala, they come from a humid environment. You can recreate this at home by misting them regularly!
