English name:Japanese Bamboo
Latin name:Dracaena surculosa var. maculata
About me:I am an easy-to-grow and fuss-free plant with golden freckles on deep green, glossy leaves.
Useful to know:
I come from West and Central Tropical Africa.
I shoot up instead of out and can reach up to 1.6m.
I like bright indirect light best but can deal with a bit of direct sun.
Water me more during the summer and less during winter. Once a week alongside a good misting will do.
No rooms below 10°C please.
Feed me monthly between April and September.
Dust my leaves off occasionally and pluck off any dry leaves. You can prune me in spring or summer if I'm getting too tall.
I am susceptible to root rot if you overwater me so don't drown me!
I am toxic so please don't eat me.
In spring and summer I flower, throwing out dozens of firework-like clusters of white flowers.
