Bonsai has garnered a reputation for themselves as difficult to care for, but that is not the case with this beauty! Widely discussed as the easiest bonsai to care for, why not add this to your February plants collection? This miniature tree is the definition of a decorative piece, providing some lovely aesthetic qualities that can spruce up any room. It likes relatively warm conditions, so will suit the heated areas of the house. This bonsai is a lovely option for your new year's decorations.
2. Dendrobium Kumiko
February is nothing if not a bit of a dud. Many people, who can wangle it, find themselves flocking to sunnier pastures to avoid the cold. This is not possible for most of us, though we have come up with a great substitute to warm weather! This is insanely beautiful flowering plant is one of the best plants to grow in February. It may seem like a long time to wait, but by the spring, your house will smell like heaven. Trust us, this beautiful orchid is an amazing horticulture investment.
3. Lemon Tree
February tends to be a bit of a frugal time for most. After the mayhem of Christmas presents, holiday meals, and oftentimes all the booze, January is likely a time to save. If you know you need a couple of darlings' little plants to help spruce up your communal areas, why not try this lovely plant that kills two birds with one stone? This lemon tree regularly bears fruit and makes the most delicious lemons. The yellow pops out in any kitchen and gives some beautiful warmth to a cold day.
4. Green Sweetheart Plant
What’s a better way to cure the January blues than a little love? With some cute heart-shaped leaves, this sweetheart plant is the hug that we all need early in the year. Who needs winter garden flowers when you can have a lovely, vibrant hanging plant such as this? It is able to survive in a variety of conditions and only needs to be watered a little and often. The perfect gift for your loved one or indeed, yourself!
5. Cambria Orchid
A plant that looks straight out of a tropical paradise! There is nothing better in our opinion than this winter garden flower. There are low water requirements for this particular orchid, making it one of those “put it down and only come back to it if it looks messed up kinda plants”. It likes indirect or filtered light. Perfect for a little bit of a home office glow-up! The red goes contrasts really nicely with neutral tones, so it should go nicely amongst most people’s decor!
6. Mistletoe Cactus
Looking almost more like an edible seaweed than a plant, this cactus is mesmerizing. You should barely need to water this all winter and only very occasionally in the spring/summer. This should be the only Christmas clutter you keep into the new year! We recommend re-potting yearly to keep the soil fresh and draining properly. Other than that, it’s smooth sailing taking care of this guy!
7. Anthurium Rainbow
Though they might not show the entire spectrum of the rainbow, the leaves on this beautiful plant will brighten up a room with ease. When thinking about what plants to grow in February, you need not think past this eye-catching stunner! This one loves some direct sun and will benefit from a warmer room. Be careful not to over water though! This one has sensitive roots that can be a little bit specific with their conditions.
8. Dracaena Bi-Colour
This beautiful plant boasts thin, rising leaves tipped with a deep red wine-tinged colour. In the sunlight, you will see some more subtle pale yellow colours as well. This plant is a sunlight soaker! Keep this by a window that gets the lightest and it will thrive! The best part about it is that it can grow to the size of a full-on tree! This is definitely one of our favourite plants to plant in February as it will erupt into a thing of beauty by the time spring is over.

11. Cordyline ‘Glauca’
We’ve given a lot of different options in this list, but this one sort of sits in the middle of them all. Beautiful, and tall, this plant is pretty low maintenance and easy to care for. It has a vibrant green colour that brightens up any room and keeps it that way with very little attention. If you are quite green-minded, you can get stuck into caring for this plant, but it will survive just fine if you only tend to it infrequently.
